I have droned on and on about writing this blog and it is about time I sat and got to it. I have to confess that there are times when I won’t write a blog because the concept in my head is a touch sarcastic or offbeat and I wonder if the idea will come off. Well… here we go.
We live in a world where so many of us search for the easiest possible way. And I should be quick to say that I completely understand this desire. That's part of the beauty of the Lizard Brain: it helps us survive by seeking ease in order to preserve energy. However, this tendency has gone so far that we have adopted a practice of wanting the “easy way” in almost every area of our life. When you couple the idea that we all long for ease with the idea that so many of us feel like we have so very little time, then you have the birth of the idea of creating and then selling “5 Easy Steps.”
For fun, you could do a simple search on Amazon.com in the books section for the word “Millionaire” and then boggle at how many books there are telling you just how simple it is to become a millionaire. Call them “Laws," “Pillars,” “Methods,” “Rungs,” or whatever you want, there is someone telling you that in “5 Simple Somthings,” you, too, can have your dreams come true (this may or may not, by the way, have a set of steak knives attached to it).
So with all of that being said, I thought I might offer:
3 Simple Ways to Create 5 Easy Steps. If you follow this, you too can be promising somebody something for nothing in no time flat!
- Step 1: Wrap your mind around the fact that the bulk of our culture will pay for ease regardless of whether or not they even believe that “ease” works.
- Step 2: Re-create 5 basic ideas that you read somewhere else. Then promise people (maybe throw in a money-back guarantee to seal the deal) that they can and will accomplish something amazing if they just follow these 5 ways.
- Step 3: Find (or make up) testimonials about how someone else used your ease program and got rich overnight.
There you go. 3 simple Ways for creating 5 Simple Steps.
Or…
Join the few but growing number of people who will refuse to believe in 5 simple anythings and have endeavored to start Rewiring how they think. Just sayin….
Ok, I'll to be less snarky in my next post, but I had to get this post out there.
P.S. We had a bit of a glitch last Friday with the video blog we sent out to subscribers of this blog. We've attached it to this post for them. But, by all means, give it another viewing! You could do worse than spend an extra couple minutes strategizing ways to incorporate rest into your work and life.
